In Evangelion, Shinji spends a fair amount of time feeling sorry for himself, which to many Shinji haters is like saying Microsoft founder Bill Gates can spare a few bucks. But if you read the original Japanese lyrics (penned by director Hideaki Anno) of "Komm, Susser Tod" (Come, Sweet Death) from the movie End of Evangelion [link] , you can see why Shinji was picked to write the textbook you see in the image.

Trust me, as depressing as the English version by Arianne may be [link] , it's a song that hides behind bouncy piano music, a flowery orchestra, and female backing vocal harmonies. It also is an adaptation done in the sense of the original, rather than a conventional translation of the original Japanese lyrics. Enjoy this piece.
